Bruichladdich Distillery

Built in 1881, the whitewashed buildings overlook the pebbly shore of Loch Indaal, sheltered from the prevailing winds and weather by the Rhinns of Islay, a range of hills which lie between Bruichladdich and the open sea. The name is derived from the Gaelic translation of “stony shore bank”, referring to a post- glacial raised beach.
