Matt’s Notes:
The 2010 Edition of the always popular wood finished Benromach. This has been matured in first fill Bourbon casks and then finished for just over 2 years in Bordeaux Red Wine Casks. This is definitely a whisky showing the influence of the 2 casks.
On the nose we have a combination of quite tropical fruits, mango, papaya, blood orange and peach with subtle aromas of strawberry, and caramel, it’s quite a big nose. The palate is richer and darker with black treacle, cherries, chocolate and prune. There’s also a bit of tannin there as well. The finish is dry with the characteristic Benromach smoke coming though. Another top notch wood finish.
